A SPECIAL BLACK HISTORY MONTH
CONCERT

In a
musical tribute to Black History Month, enjoy an afternoon of narration
and classical music honoring the works of Black Classical Composers
including, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, H.T. Burleigh, Hall Johnson and
others.

GALLERY COMPETITION

Montpelier Arts Center is
holding a competition for exhibitions that will be held in the Library
Gallery September 2016-August 2017. The juror may elect to
exhibit artists who apply for solo shows or artists who apply as
groups.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicant
must reside in Maryland and be 18 & up.
- Previous
winners from 2011 to the present are ineligible.
- All
entries must be submitted online at https://montpelierartscenter.submittable.com
- Artist/Artist
Group statement
- Current
résumé of all artists to exhibit
- A
proposal of no more than 500 words
- Preferred
month for your show, and include second and third choices.
- A
minimum of 10 and a maximum of 15 digital images
that best exemplify your portfolio/proposal. Images must be in
JPEG format at a minimum 300 dpi

Join a thriving community
of professional artists in the Montpelier Resident Artist
Program. Resident artists may share studio space at Montpelier
Arts Center. However, each prospective resident artist must complete an
individual submission for review by the juror.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicants
must reside in Maryland and be 18 & up.
- All
entries must be submitted online at https://montpelierartscenter.submittable.com
- Current
résumé, artist statement, and biography for each artist looking to
rent
- Letter
of intent stating reasons for applying, what you hope to
accomplish through/during residency, how studio space will be
used, and any special projects you propose with Montpelier Arts
Center
- A
minimum of 10 and a maximum of 15 digital images that best
exemplify your portfolio/proposal, with the titles, dates, and
dimensions of each work.
- Three
professional references, their relation to you, and their contact
information
Each selected artist will
be granted a lease for rental space at Montpelier Arts Center.
Montpelier resident artists may hold solo exhibitions in the Resident
Artist Gallery on a revolving basis.

CLASSICAL
RECITAL COMPETITION

Classical musicians are
now being sought for the Montpelier Arts Center Recital Competition!
Winners will be featured in a recital in the Main Gallery during the
2016-2017 season.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Musicians
must be 18 & older to be considered. There are no geographical
restrictions, but winners are responsible for their own
transportation to the recital.
- All
entries must be submitted online at https://montpelierartscenter.submittable.com
- Ten-minute
selection of music that best identifies your repertoire and
technique
- Musician(s)
biography
- Headshot(s)
that is appropriate for print (at least 8"x10" and 300
dpi)
- Current
one-page resume with contact information for each participating
musician
Each musician/ensemble
will receive a $400 honorarium. Accompanists will receive a $200
honorarium. There is no entry fee for this competition.

197). North toward Laurel on Route 197 to Crystal Plaza Shopping
Center; turn left on Muirkirk Road. Art Center Drive is first right.
