Welcome to the October Newsletter

President’s Message

As the year progresses, artists are continually inspired by the seasonal colors and natural forms shaped by the ultimate creator of this Universe. Soon, vibrant yellows, browns, and oranges will grace our surroundings, sparking creativity and artistic expression. Be sure to carry your sketchbook and materials with you, ready to capture nature’s beauty in your drawings. Share your work with us on social media and join the conversation! You might even be featured in a future newsletter, with an interview by our communications team. Let this season fuel your inspiration—get out there and create!

September Paint-Out

Three LAG members met on Saturday, September 28 on the grounds of MAC (Montpelier Arts Center) to sketch and paint from the various scenic views on the grounds. What started as a cloudy day soon became a day of bright sunshine and blue sky. Melba, Linda, and Carol enjoyed capturing the effects of sunlight and shadows highlighting the trees and grass.

We were also pleasantly surprised by a visit from our president Efrain Montanez, who would like to see the plein air efforts of LAG expand into outreach events that include other artists in the community. In addition, the plein air participants were happy to have a visit from LAG member Stacy Voccia and her husband along with their new baby, Jack, born two months ago.

CONGRATULATIONS to the Voccias!

Images of this MAC paint-out will soon be available for viewing on the LAG plein air webpage

For the month of October, LAG artists are invited to the St. Barnabas Church in Temple Hills, MD. This picturesque location includes a church and graveyard that were built in 1830.If you are interested in participating in this plein air event, please contact Carol Leo at paintoutdoors@laurelartguild.org
